12 October 2009
SALE After almost 3 months without selling a single CD from the labels we distribute / sell on our website it is now time to regrettably make the decision we have been postponing for about a year: we are shutting down our online shop. The steep continuous decrease in sales over the past year and half and the disappearance of all of our regular customers (who were instrumental to keep the online shop alive for so long) couldn’t have a different outcome for us. In order to clear some room and raise some income for future ESQUILO releases we are launching a shutting down sale starting right now: all items will be sold with 30% discount. Just deduct 30% from the price you see on the site and that will be your final price with postage included. If you are unclear on how to calculate the discount just let us know which releases you want and we’ll send you a total. Please note that none of the ESQUILO releases are part of this sale – they will continue to be sold at their normal prices. Please bear in mind that some discs are single items at the moment and we apologize in advance if the discs you want are not available anymore. ESQUILO, the label, will obviously continue its work, though it’s unlikely that we’ll have any new releases this year (it will probably be the first year without an ESQUILO release since we started back in 2005). We will also keep distributing small quantities of the labels we represent in Portugal to a couple of shops in our country, as long as there is some demand for them. Thank you to everyone that helped our online shop throughout the years and we look forward to your orders.
04 May 2009
ESQUILO's online shop will be closed from now until the 1st of August.
You will still be able to order ESQUILO releases (and they will be posted right away) during the above period. But no orders for other labels' records will be shipped.
Activities will resume their normal course on the 1st of August.
Since we have very few copies some records from other labels, you can reserve any copies during this period. The reservations will ship on the 3rd of August.

Esquilo's hard drive died about two months ago and we lost all esquilo related data. Among that, a almost finished newly designed and more appealing and functional website that was supposed to be launched in early May.

NEW RELEASES
ESQUILO is proud to present the release of
First ever collaboration and recording between swiss Tomas Korber and japanese Utah Kawasaki recorded back in 2006. Hardly categorizable it probably stands as the most peculiar release by any of these artists revealing an unclear mix of different dimensions sourced from a multilayered fragile interconnected system of guitars, microphones and electronics. While raising many questions, especially regarding control, choice of sounds, structure and balance, its playback is a defying and uneasy experience. Limited to 200 copies.
For more information and to buy the album press here.
|Kai Fagaschinski / Michael Renkel|
In the second instalment of Esquilo’s Instant Series comes a new solo album from swiss electronic improviser Günter Müller.
Despite having an impressive career and releases list, and being one of the most important cornerstones of international improvisation, this is only Müller’s second solo album in almost 20 years.
Both discs demonstrate Günter’s unique ability and exciting creativity to craft a wide range of intertwined electroacoustic soundscapes. Not to be missed by anyone interested in electronic / electroacoustic improvisation and composition – a true work of great mastery.
Limited to 200 copies.
For more information and to buy the album press here.
Originally released in 2005 in an edition of only 12 copies as part of a collaboration with visual artist Nash Masood, this unique saxophone feedback piece sees the light of day in a broader edition. Delicate tones build a slowly evolving soundscape with a unique sense of pace. Limited to 100 copies.
For more information and to buy the album press here. Only available from esquilo.
First solo release in eight years, Ringing Light finds Michael Vorfeld working with his two preferred media: light and sound. This recording is a musical realisation of the graphics Vorfeld created for his essay Ringing Light included on the first issue of the arts and essays magazine Detritos, originally published in May 2008 (in portuguese only).
Limited to 100 copies.
For more information and to buy the album press here. Only available from esquilo.
